120-132 Chrisp Street, Poplar, London E14

A fifteen storey luxury apartment block built as a reinforced concrete frame and incorporating a bolt on balcony system in London’s Canary Wharf district. Built in tandem with integral upgrades to a nearby major rail route, all RC columns, slabs and shear walls were designed and detailed in house. With a foundation scheme consisting of 130 individual piles approved and overseen by HAJ.

New House Farm, Brooke, Norfolk

A farmhouse refurbishment that included the conversion of several outbuildings into office and residential spaces. The main house was suffering from damp, for which a new underpinning scheme was designed and installed to remedy. Condition surveys and reports were also carried out on the associated outbuildings to asses their suitability for the proposed conversions. An extension was also added to the farmhouse which incorporated a bespoke oak truss designed and detailed by HAJ.

Henderson Centre, Bowthorpe, Norwich

A new two-storey steel framed hi-tech business centre, five single storey industrial units and the design of all road and drainage networks built on the former Bowthorpe School site, west of Norwich.

Notre Dame Excellence Centre, Surrey Street, Norwich

Construction of a new three storey steel framed structure, demolition of an existing building and refurbishment of another for a respected state school in the centre of Norwich. The project incorporated several separate elements such as a full height, fully glazed feature bay window, glazed canopies, recycling of existing building materials, drainage networks and external landscaping design.

193-197 Long Lane, Bermondsey, London, SE1

Eight storey reinforced concrete structure built in the heart of central London. The building comprises of a basement car park, commercial units at ground floor and residential luxury apartments above including penthouses at top floor level.

Jarrold Whitefriars Office Development, Whitefriars, Norwich

Two new 3/4 Storey Steel framed Office Buildings for Jarrold Property Ltd. The project was engineered to have the minimum impact upon the below ground and standing archaeology, including the utilisation of existing foundations and ground floor slab from the demolished St James’ Factory building, as well as the inclusion of a Medieval Crypt within the Office accommodation.

Jarrold Department Store, 9-11 London Street, Norwich

Total Refurbishment of a listed timber framed building and the construction of a new three storey steel framed extension alongside for a high-class commercial enterprise in a compact pedestrian area of a city centre. Also included in the new build extension was the design of a space frame housed in the roof void to serve as a visual focus.

Redevelopment of 51-53 Marlborough Place, St John’s Wood, London

Marlborough Place

 

This development of four Luxurious Town Houses in Marlborough Place, St John’s Wood, London, followed the demolition of an earlier 19th Century building . The scheme was designed in conjunction with Robert Adam Architects and is in the style of a Classic Georgian Villa. The striking appearance is quite dominant in the street and the project had to overcome considerable requirements to satisfy the Local Planning Committees.

New Visitors Centre, Cley Marshes, Norfolk

A small but complicated structure. Cut into a sloping side, in a chalk sub-stratum, incorporating a stepped RC tied into a retaining wall with two separate RC slabs. The slabs were utilised as support for a ribbed steel roof curved in two planes sitting on two sets of symmetrical splayed circular columns. This project also received a commendation award from the IstructE in 2008 and covered in further detail in the PAST AWARDS section of this website.

Redevelopment of Brown Field Site at Burnham Market, Norfolk

This Estate Development of Executive Houses in Burnham Market, Norfolk, contained several internal timber roof features. One Unit comprised this circular tower requiring a walkway at 1st floor combined with a change in direction on plan in combination with support of a conical roof structure.

Ski slope modifications, Norfolk Ski Club

Due to the growing popularity of this fast paced sport in the county, an expansion to the already commendable facilities at this dry ski slope in Norwich was called for. Major landscaping and large scale drainage schemes were undertaken, opened by Prince Edward in the autumn of 2006.
